Collection: San Marino

San Marino, a microstate within Italy, does not have its own pepper industry; it relies on Italian agriculture. Home gardeners and small restaurateurs grow or source Italian peperoncino (Calabrian-type hot peppers), jalapeño, and cayenne, along with sweet peppers.

Hot peppers are used in pasta all’arrabbiata, spicy sausages, and grilled meats, mirroring central Italian cuisine. Nearly all commercial chilies and chili products are imported from Italy, including dried peperoncino flakes, Calabrian chili pastes, and various hot sauces.

The typical flavours are medium heat, slightly smoky and fruity, emphasizing peperoncino’s warm glow over extreme heat.
