Thailand’s chili and pepper sector is a regional powerhouse, fueled by year-round cultivation and deep culinary ties. The market, valued around THB 4.6 billion (USD 144 million) annually, benefits from innovative farming, vital domestic consumption, and robust export performance to Europe, Japan, the US, and neighboring Asian countries.

Fresh and dried chili exports topped 40,000 tons in 2018, and the sector continues to expand, with major processors and sauce producers like Mae Pranom and Pantai shaping global preferences for Thai flavours. Local consumption also exceeds 45,000 tons yearly, supporting smallholders and family farms. Climate challenges and pest management influence yields, while government-backed improvement efforts sustain competitiveness and product quality.
