Flavour Profile: Rich, fruity with a slight smoky undertone. Begins mildly sweet and transitions to a gentle heat. Pods have an apple-like crunch and crispness.
Origin: Brazil, grown mostly in San Paulo and Rio de Janeiro regions. Known as one of Brazil’s unique native peppers.
Species: Capsicum baccatum.
Plant Description: Bell-shaped, wide and squat, resembling a flying saucer with flared edges. Pods mature from yellow to orange to bright red, 3in long. The plant grows to about 3ft in height, prolific, excellent for stuffing, sauces, salads, and jams.
