Collection: Myanmar

Myanmar is recognized as a chili pepper producer thanks to diverse agro-climatic regions, especially in the central dry zone. In 2022, Myanmar produced about 142,000 tonnes of dry chili and pepper, with many crops consumed domestically.

Chili peppers are a staple ingredient in Burmese cuisine, appearing in everyday stews and pickles, while bird’s eye varieties are sought after in regional markets.

Farmer networks and contract trading increasingly support local incomes, and the sector faces both yield and market price volatility due to climatic challenges and pest outbreaks. Still, chili exports and regional breeding initiatives continue to strengthen the role of Myanmar in global pepper production.
