Collection: Malaysia
Malaysia stands as the fifth-largest pepper producer among members of the International Pepper Community, with Sarawak the primary growing region producing prized black and white peppers.
Total pepper exports in 2024 reached RM186.67 million for less than 6,000 metric tonnes, with almost half exported to Japan. Malaysia’s global renown comes from consistent quality standards, and the government incentivizes expansion beyond Sarawak to the Peninsula.
Challenges include high prices compared to Vietnam and climate swings, but Malaysia’s diversified export market—Japan, Singapore, China, and others—support steady demand. Malaysian chili and pepper prices rose in 2025, underlining the value of its crop both regionally and as a premium export commodity.
