Collection: Cuba

Cuba’s pepper sector produces mainly fresh bell and hot peppers, with recent annual volumes ranging from 59,000 to 68,800 tonnes on 7,600 hectares. Agriculture is distributed between state and smallholder farms, with the latter accounting for over 70% of pepper output. Cultivars such as Tropical CW-3 and Spanish types are common.

Peppers are grown for domestic use and resort industries, with investments in seed access and organic methods improving farmer resilience. Cuba’s sector faces climate challenges, labor issues, and historic underinvestment, but diversification and modern training programs are expanding producer capacity.
