Flavour Profile: Sweet, aromatic, and smoky. Habanero-like flavour without heat. Essential for Venezuelan cuisine such as pabellón criollo.
Origin: Venezuela. Widely grown in Latin America and the Caribbean, but especially prized in Venezuelan home cooking.
Species: Capsicum Chinense.
Plant Description: Small to medium plants, produce wrinkled, cap-like pods (hence “Cachucha”). Pods ripen from green to red or orange. High-yield, often perennial in local climates.
