Flavour Profile: Bright, tangy, and citrus-forward, followed by smoky notes. Intense, immediate, "violent" heat that quickly dissipates; flavour is more rapid than sustained.
Origin: Native to Southwestern USA and North Mexico. Oldest wild Capsicum Annuum; "official native pepper" of Texas.
Species: Capsicum Annuum var. glabriusculum.
Plant Description: Small, bushy, wild plants (1–2ft tall). Tiny, round/oval berry-like pods (<1cm), ripening from green to red (can show black or purple before red). Grows wild or in home gardens, slow growth, excellent for powder or spice.
