Flavour Profile: Bright, fresh, and vegetal. Subtle bitterness, crisp texture, with occasional smoky or citrus notes when cooked. Occasionally mildly spicy, but mostly sweet and pleasant.
Origin: East Asia, especially Japan.
Species: Capsicum Annuum.
Plant Description: Small, slender, thin-walled peppers, 3–4in (7–10cm) long, pale green ripening to red. Plants are compact, high-yielding, and the peppers are typically wrinkled with a “lion head” tip. Thin flesh, best cooked quickly.
