Jamaican Scotch Bonnet Sweet
Scoville Heat Units (SHU): Typically heatless to very mild; selected lines are grown for classic Scotch Bonnet flavour with minimal burn (sweet “seasoning” types are common in the Caribbean).
Flavour Profile: Fruity, tropical, and aromatic with the signature Scotch Bonnet perfume but little to no capsaicin bite, ideal for cooking where flavour is desired without searing heat.
Origin: Caribbean (Jamaica and surrounding islands), where sweet “seasoning” bonnet types are traditionally used in stews and sauces.
Species: Capsicum Chinense.
Plant Description: Bushy, productive plants bearing lantern-shaped bonnet pods that mature from green to yellow/orange/red depending on strain; used fresh or for mild sauces and seasonings.
