Scoville Heat Units (SHU): 875,000–1,750,000+ SHU (superhot; estimates as high as 1,800,000 SHU).
Flavour Profile: Killer heat, smooth and chewy pods with intense burn; noted for very good flavour among superhots. Used fresh, dried, in salsa, or for stuffing and sauces.
Origin: Germany, created by Tobias Dorf via cross of Carolina Reaper × The Superhot Beast (“Reaper Beast” lineage). Multiple unstable phenotypes exist.
Species: Capsicum Chinense.
Plant Description: Large, gnarly, bumpy, red pods up to 2.6in, sometimes with “stinger” tips. Plants can reach 3.5ft, perennial if overwintered, highly productive with dozens of pods per plant. Mid to late season, needs support when heavy with fruit.
