Scoville Heat Units (SHU): 2,500–5,000 SHU based on Australian Annuums, but some sources suggest up to 5,000–30,000 SHU (higher for baccatum lines).
Flavour Profile: Crisp and crunchy, with a unique hint of sour grape flavour. Diverges from traditional capsicum into a more tangy experience.
Origin: Australia (Broome region).
Species: Capsicum Annuum or baccatum (sources conflict—baccatum also cited).
Plant Description: Compact plant, 50–60cm tall in pots. Elongated red pods up to 7cm long, majority snub-nosed with some pointed. Pods mature green to vibrant red. Productive, ideal for containers.
Culinary Use: Adds tangy, grape-like heat to dishes; valued in Australian Outback-inspired cuisine.
