Jalapeño - Lemon Ghostly
Scoville Heat Units (SHU): Generally hotter than standard jalapeños but much milder than true ghost peppers, often estimated 20,000–50,000 SHU.
Flavour Profile: Fruity, slightly citrusy flavour with a delayed burn, combining jalapeño usability with ghost‑style character; great for bright yellow sauces and salsas.
Origin: credited to Matt’s Peppers (Matt Garvin/Matt’s Pepper), who developed it as a cross between a Bhut Jolokia (ghost pepper) and a jalapeño and then selected a yellow “lemon” phenotype. The original ghostly jalapeño was created by Jack Skiggs in the USA.
Species: Capsicum Annuum × Capsicum Chinense hybrid.
Plant Description: Medium plants with smooth, tapered yellow pods similar in size to jalapeños, providing high yields of attractive, lemon‑coloured fruit.
