Collection: Slovakia
Slovakia’s pepper sector encompasses both commercial greenhouses and open-field cultivation, reaching a production volume of 1,560 metric tons for fresh bell peppers in 2023—down from 4,740 tons in 2019. Pepper farming covers roughly 1,320 hectares and contributes up to 9% of all vegetables grown domestically.
Hot and sweet peppers are grown in family gardens, with Slovakia supplying Hungary, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands with surplus yield. However, declining domestic production and high import levels have shaped a market increasingly reliant on regional trade. Slovakia also promotes specialty peppers for the fresh market, focusing on product quality and integrated pest management.
