Collection: Russia

Russia grows peppers primarily in the North Caucasus, Southern Federal Districts, and Volga regions, areas selected for suitable climate and fertile soil. Most domestic cultivation involves sweet and mild types, but open-field production of chili peppers is expanding in the south, notably in Dagestan, where peppers are harvested for local and market use.

Russian growers contend with significant disease pressures and climate uncertainties, making production occasionally unprofitable, yet greenhouse-grown peppers and urban farming are on the rise. There is an emerging interest in Central Asian and local Russian chili varieties, with seed exchanges and hobbyist networks supporting diversity in both rural and city plots.
