Croatia produces nearly 8,000 tonnes of green chili and pepper annually, although this represents a significant decline from previous years. In addition to local production, Croatia imports over 22,000 tonnes of fresh and dried peppers each year to satisfy processed food industry needs and consumer demand.

Red peppers (capsicum) are a feature crop—both for fresh consumption and for signature products such as paprika and ajvar. Croatian farming combines traditional outdoor plots with modernized supply chains for large supermarkets, making adaptation to climate shifts and pest pressures a recurring focus for growers.
