Collection: Capsicum Praetermissum
Capsicum praetermissum: Often treated as a semi-wild or wild relative within the annuum complex, Capsicum praetermissum forms upright, shrubby plants with narrow, lanceolate leaves and attractive purple-tinged flowers. The fruits are small, upright, bullet-shaped pods that turn from green to red, usually thin-walled and quite hot, though not in the super-hot range. They often have a clean, sharp heat and can be used fresh, dried, or as a source of breeding traits like disease resistance and vigor. Native mainly to Brazil and surrounding regions, C. praetermissum tends to appear on forest edges, disturbed sites, and smallholder farms where it persists with minimal care.
