Collection: Capsicum Eximium
Capsicum eximium: C. eximium is a rare wild Andean pepper, typically a small shrub with a bushy habit and attractive purple-tinged foliage and stems in some forms. Its flowers have entire calyces and bell- to star-shaped corollas in various shades of purple, making it stand out among wild Capsicum. The fruits are small, slender to slightly oval berries that ripen from green to orange and then red, with a noticeable, usually hot flavor and thin walls. Native mainly to highland regions of Bolivia and northwestern Argentina, it is adapted to cooler, sunny, montane environments and remains uncommon in cultivation, valued more by collectors and breeders as a source of unique genetics and ornamental interest than as a mainstream culinary pepper.
